Building the dragon had to occur
from head to tail - vertically
Balancing the creature to its firing spot
Before "dressing" the ceramic fiber mat around
The "convertible" kiln is placed around the animal
the fire is lit
The next morning - opening the kiln
In horizontal position, at last
The "All-in-one" self content creature was also fired in the above kiln
The "Blue Rider" was fired in a paper kiln
Here it stands on the gallows
The sculpture is immersed in wood
covered with cardboard, filled with saw dust and then
pasted with newspaper that is dipped in mud
When dry - a day later - the lair is ready to be fired
to allow more oxygen a few openings are cut at the lower
part of the kiln
Uncalled for holes, though, have to be sealed with more
newspaper
The wrapping kiln collapses
and from the ruins emerge the blue (?!) rider
Some of my works are fired in the Raku
technique
back to my dream month in Moldova
