Art & Nonsense
Residency &
Exhibition
in Ustka, Poland
August 2014
Ustka
is wearing its holiday gear for the summer season's vacationists (mostly
Polish).
The thousands of pilgrims, all sizes, ages and sorts -- swarm in the
streets, parks & beach -- demonstrating their traits in an endless Grand
Parade.
Their colorful attire and behaviour, left me with but
Black & White

meLODY
— LODY is the word for ice cream, in my hosts' language.
Me, I look at it as: meLODY.
Dozens of booths sell the happy-making, fast-melting substance.
The ongoing Grand Promenade of the vacationists in Ustka forms a unique
music.
Colorful and "paradise-like" as it is, I interpreted the big holiday into a show
named Happiness in Black & White with my own thoughts. This is
the poster for the opening.

the northern wall — general view —
Constructing a site-specific installation in the municipal gallery,
formerly a huge barn,
poses a challenge in relation with the arches of the building, its heavy wooden
pillars and beams.
Tattoo — A symbol of status,
a state of mind — dozens of booths offer their variety of patterns,
to be downloaded to whoever's body in need of it. On the right: The
Greens' Blues — Artificial, what else?
The future of the Youth
— This long wall with just one "medallion" showing a wanted to be sports hero,
leaves plenty of air for human longings.
The entry's Happiness in B&W icon, with Black Magic and
Dice, serve as symbols for the searching of luck and a good future.
The column of Credits
greets the visitor left to the
entrance.

Akcja
(Polish) for Sale — demonstrates what usually
happens to the bargains acquired.
View towards Northern and Eastern wall.
If you look on the other side you won't find
anything better... Just more happiness in Black and White.
The happiness corner.
